Quality Control Chemist
Sasol North America has openings for 4 QC Chemists. These positions will report through Lake Charles Chemicals and Facilities Projects (LCCP) located in Lake Charles, LA. Below are some details of the position scope and responsibilities:
Position Responsibilities:
- Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot quality control laboratory instruments and ensure they are properly calibrated and controlled per quality procedure
- Write new laboratory test procedures, update existing procedures, and train analysts as needed
- Perform routine or non-routine analyses/tests or experiments when it is needed
- Ensure area of responsibility conforms to ISO-9001, ISO/RC-14001, and OHSAS 18001 requirements
- Work independently or with R&D and Engineering to help resolve plant issues and handle special requests
- Interface with customers, plant and ex-plant operations, and customer service
Education/Experience Requirements:
- BS. degree in Chemistry, with deep knowledge of analytical techniques and laboratory instrumentation preferred
- Strong mathematical/laboratory skills
- Extensive laboratory experience in GC, Spectroscopy, ICP, LIMS, or Wet-chemistry preferred
- Computer competency
- Good oral and written communications skills
- Good organizational, interpersonal, and team work skills
